About Gemma Peers Hairdressing

I grew up in my dads' salon in Rochdale, yes Dad's a hairdresser a very good one, so was Grandma Peers, so there was no getting away, which was fine because I loved it and still do, from being a 12 year old making brews to now mad, in my 40s and still as excited as I was back then.

At 21 I moved on to experience other posher salons in the city centre, joined Art Teams, entered competitions, photoshoots, and all that sort of stuff but they all lacked the friendly, homely, accepting surroundings I longed for, but I left taking lots of hairdressing experience with me.

I wanted to do great hair in a comfortable, relaxed environment where everyone can be themselves, at home, where they can talk about anything and leave with the best hair that they have ever had and leave me walking taller, with a massive smile. I'm not a youngster by any means and have many years of experience so I know what works and what doesn’t. I have clients of all ages and all walks of life, I love doing hair and my techniques are always current and each look I create has a certain edge to it.

I take inspiration from fashion icons, celebrities, anything really but I like everyone to feel individual and not like everyone else. I love colour and playing about with new looks, makeovers, adding hair, changing shapes. Give me a hair challenge and I will take it with open arms.

I’m a bit unique in that I work in mine and my mate Janes' wonderful little salon Weds to Sat in Halifax but live in Warrington so do a bit of freelance too.
